BirthNet
BirthNet is a birth justice organization based in Albany, NY, committed to ensuring respectful, equitable care for all birthing families. Their website features a trusted directory of local providers offering holistic support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Services include doulas (birth and postpartum), midwives (home and hospital), lactation consultants, OB/GYNs, counselors, chiropractors, and more.

Healthy Families Columbia -Greene
A voluntary home visiting program for parents up until the age of five. Parents can enroll while pregnant and/or until the baby is 3 months old. Parents are provided with child development information, developmental screenings for their child, assistance finding community resources like a free pack n play, car seats, etc. There is a free clothing closet for parents, books provided monthly to their baby, and diapers on a quarterly basis.

Tours & Childbirth Education Classes
The Perinatal Outreach Center offers tours of The Birth Place, and a variety of programs for parents-to-be or parents of newborns.

Healthy Neighborhoods Program – Columbia County Department of Health
This free program helps families create safer living environments through home visits, safety assessments, and free products like smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, and child safety kits. Services are non-invasive, supportive, and tailored to each family’s needs.

Family & Friends CPR Class – Valatie Rescue Squad
Offered by Dave Yates and the Valatie Rescue Squad, this free CPR training is designed for parents, grandparents, and caregivers of young children. The class covers life-saving basics in a supportive, family-centered environment.

Baby & Me / Toddler & Me Yoga – Chatham Yoga Center
This nurturing four-week series is designed to strengthen the caregiver-child bond, promote healthy movement, and connect parents with each other. Cost is $135, with four full scholarships available.

Hudson City School District – Parent/Infant Swim Lessons
The Hudson Senior High School Pool periodically offers swim lessons for infants and toddlers, providing a safe environment for early water exposure and bonding. Classes are typically held on Mondays and cater to various age groups from 6 months to 4 years old. Check the site link below throughout the year for updates.

Cornell Cooperative Extension – Parenting with Confidence Program
This program offers a series of 6-10 parenting skills classes, free of charge, covering topics such as child development, discipline strategies, and creating a safe home environment. Flexible scheduling and in-home lessons are available to accommodate participants' needs.

Columbia Children’s Center – Hudson, NY
Columbia Children’s Center is a licensed early childhood education center located in the heart of Hudson, NY. The center provides a nurturing, play-based learning environment for children from infancy through preschool, with a focus on supporting each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development. With experienced teachers, a welcoming atmosphere, and a strong commitment to early literacy and school readiness, Columbia Children’s Center partners with families to lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Their UPK (Universal Pre-Kindergarten) classroom is offered in collaboration with the Hudson City School District.

Columbia-Greene Community College Daycare – Hudson, NY
The Columbia-Greene Community College Daycare Center offers high-quality, affordable early childhood care for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Open to both students and the broader community, the center is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children while supporting working and student parents. Hudson City School District – Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Program
The Hudson City School District offers a free, full-day Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program for eligible four-year-olds residing within the district. The UPK program is designed to support school readiness through a structured, play-based curriculum that fosters early literacy, social-emotional growth, and foundational math and science skills. Classes are offered at multiple partner sites throughout the city, including Columbia Children’s Center and other licensed early learning centers. The program is open to children who turn four on or before December 1 of the school year.
