The Literacy Voyage Program

The Literacy Voyage Program is a new initiative bringing early literacy experiences directly to families in Columbia County. Through interactive storytelling, hands-on activities, and take-home resources, the program fosters a love of reading and learning while promoting school readiness. Each session is designed to engage children and empower caregivers with tools to support development at home.

With a goal to reach over 190 children monthly, Literacy Voyage will expand FRC’s impact, bridging gaps in early learning and ensuring every child has the opportunity to build a strong foundation for the future. This program reflects our commitment to strengthening families and enriching childhoods by making early literacy fun and accessible.

📈 Watch the Literacy Voyage Program Grow!

Since launching in January 2025, the Literacy Voyage Program has been gaining momentum each month — and we’re just getting started! This chart shows our monthly attendance totals, giving a snapshot of how many children are participating in our literacy and STEAM adventures across Columbia County.

For transparency:

  • At most sites, we visit once per month, so each child is counted only once per month

  • At the Hudson Youth Center, we run weekly sessions. Because different groups of children attend throughout the week, we count each unique participant per session — so some children may be counted more than once during the month.

Every number represents a young explorer who engaged in a story, built something amazing, asked big questions, and connected with their peers in a literacy-rich, hands-on environment. With your support, we’re excited to keep expanding — reaching more young readers, more classrooms, and more communities.
